This is a fantastic product. Fits in minutes and the trigger (that’s really the best word for it!) is in easy reach next to my gearshift lever. It’s also dayglo orange, so easy to find in a hurry if you need to look down to locate it (though you should really be concentrating on braking and steering during a crisis
)
I commute by bicycle daily and got sick and tired of idiots in cars and trucks pulling wild maneuvers in front of me. I’ve only had this for 2 days and already avoided a couple of near misses (turned them into wide misses) with it. When cranked to full volume it *really* gets drivers’ attention – even with their windows wound up and Eminem rattling their mirrors!
Way more effective than my little ding-ding bell!
I’ve currently got it fitted into my 2nd bottle cage, but I think I may switch to the supplied velcro/zip tie arrangement so that I can strap it to my top-tube and regain my 2nd bottle cage for longer rides or a headlight battery.

What a fantastic product! Its small, lightweight, and loud. When it runs out of air, a few pumps with my bike pump and its ready to go. It was easy to install and took no more room than a standard water bottle. The horn is inconspicuous on my handlebars but is exactly what I need to get the attention of the driver pulling into my lane with their windows closed and radio blaring.
I second everything Kuyper wrote in his review, and am giving this product the extra star he left out because I’ve had my horn for almost 5 years and its still going strong (and loud). I’ve been pleasantly surprised that this lightweight tubing and plastic canister can hold close to 100psi for a very long time without leaking.
Very cool concept. I would be seriously interested to have one these, perfect to take the bike trail to work.

As to your first question, I stop when there are cars waiting and take my turn. If the intersection is clear I don’t stop, but if there’s a car coming up to the intersection I get prepared to stop by try to make eye contact to sail through without losing too much momentum. Keep an eye out for cops, though, because some of them will ticket you if you don’t stop.

What a dilemma. Bikes left exposed to the elements for any period of time will begin to rust and not function as well. Then you will not enjoy your ride and the bike really will be "crappy." Get a low-end bike shop quality bike, lock it up to something semi-permanent like a fence or post, and cover it with a weather resistant tarp. Then cinch the tarp down with bungee cords or the like. For your commute you want a good, reliable ride. Buy a reliable bike and keep it that way with regular maintenance.

If you want a really first class job it will cost more that $500. The problem is that the horn has to be broken down in order to polish all the areas. By broken down I mean "torch time". The actual lacquering takes no time at all but polishing is a pain. Take it to a music store, they will send it off or do it on sight. I have had great luck with Badger State Repair….. it comes out looking new, or Osman music, check the web.
You might come out better on the finances by selling your horn and buying a lacquered one.
Cardio workouts (like bike) will burn lean muscle which i assume you want to hold on to. If you do an interval type workout, alternating between weights and cardio you will burn off body fat and retain muscle. Dumbells and strecthing with bike sounds like a great option to me.

If you use an electrical horn, similar to the type in the car, a Cadillac El Dorado is, without a doubt, the loudest production car horn. If you're considering an air horn, the horn from a train locomotive is as good as they get, (truck horns are a close second) but you'll need an air pump for it.

That clicking come from loose lower bearings. You can have a good tech tighten the bearings or have the valves rebuilt. Rebuilding valves costs 6 to 9 hundred! If the compression on the valves is good you can have the bearings tightened for a lot less. You don't want to replace the valves, they will need lots of work to fit the used valve cases correctly.

There are many resources on the net which describe the various aspects of Horn playing, but in general your single most important step is to get a competent teacher. Also you need a decent instrument. There are many that should be acceptable at your level around $1200.
To improve your horn playing you need to adopt a routine that includes the following elements: Warmup, Long Tones, Scales, Etudes, specific areas (like lip trills, high or low notes, stopping, transposing, etc), Excerpts, and specific music that you are working on like solos and concert pieces.
That’s a lot of stuff to practice, but knowing what to practice when and how much is key to being efficient. Make sure you are actively listening to your practice and don’t just play notes to put in your time. When you play, if you are not sounding or playing the part correctly stop, slow down and listen. If you sit and practice all day incorrectly you are only reinforcing the wrong way to play.

The Airzound is an air horn that mounts to your bicycle handlebars. You recharge it with an air pump and the reservoir is basically a soda bottle. As a result, the entire assembly is quite lightweight. You can adjust the volume with a small dial. Do watch out that you have it turned back up when refilling the bottle, as it controls flow in and out of the reservoir (one minor design flaw in my opinion). This air horn was on my shopping list for years though I didn’t have any real need for it until recently. An air horn is way overkill for riding on trails.
