You are correct that the LDR principals seem to be the opposite of what is acheived in street lights, but that is assuming that they are placed in series witht the bulb. However, in reality the LDR is in a potential divider circuit, such that when there is a low resistace of the LDR (when there is high light intensity), the overall output of the bulb placed in parallel gets a higher resistance than normal, therefore the current does not flow as readily. It is hard to describe but if you google potential divider circuit, it may help.

take the bike apart, sand it with 220 grit sand paper, use two coats red oxide primer on the whole bike, sand lightly with 360 grit sand. Clean with alcohol, put three light coats paint, 15 minutes apart. ( Red oxide primer and paint comes in spray bombs at wal-mart or any auto parts store).

There are many resources on the net which describe the various aspects of Horn playing, but in general your single most important step is to get a competent teacher. Also you need a decent instrument. There are many that should be acceptable at your level around $1200.
To improve your horn playing you need to adopt a routine that includes the following elements: Warmup, Long Tones, Scales, Etudes, specific areas (like lip trills, high or low notes, stopping, transposing, etc), Excerpts, and specific music that you are working on like solos and concert pieces.
That’s a lot of stuff to practice, but knowing what to practice when and how much is key to being efficient. Make sure you are actively listening to your practice and don’t just play notes to put in your time. When you play, if you are not sounding or playing the part correctly stop, slow down and listen. If you sit and practice all day incorrectly you are only reinforcing the wrong way to play.

The most important things for you will be a sturdy set of wheels and a strong seatpost. I'd recommend a steel frame.
You'll have to pay extra for some wheels, and that will be expensive, but you have to realize that even most "good" wheels won't handle your weight well (or at all) unless you ride easy on pretty smooth surfaces. Look for a wide downhill rim with 36 or 48 spokes. You want a rim that's at least 32mm wide. The Azonic Outlaw wheelset is great and affordable at about $250. You could get a set of Halo Combat wheels for a little less. Any bike shop can order these for you from the distributors. The Bontrager Big Earl wheels are also stout, and any Trek dealer can get them. Wide tires with higher pressure are the best idea. 2.25" at least, bigger if your frame will handle them. You can get wide tires in a smooth street tread or any number of knobby trail treads.
You might want to get a saddle with steel rails instead of mag or ti, just so it'll be less likely to bend if you have your weight on the back when you hit a big bump.
The other parts of the bike will be just fine and if you keep at it you'll be getting lighter from week to week anyway, so any worries about weak parts will become less of a concern.
Another idea if you can't find or afford a bike that will hold up, would be to take up swimming or walking for awhile until you drop 100 pounds or so. By that time most bikes will hold up much better for you.
